After the big announcement at our New Year's company kick off meeting, Heather was honored with a company luncheon and engraved trophy.

The employee of the year program at Renodis is fueled by employee votes and overall business impact input from the Management Team.

We sat down to chat with Heather about life, work, and her lovable chocolate Labrador, Lola.

Q: When did you join the Renodis Team?

I joined the team May 2016.

Q: What did you do before Renodis?

I was the Office Administrator for the Cottage Grove Area Chamber of Commerce. That was a fun position, as I got to work closely with community members and businesses. My job before that was Events & Marketing Coordinator with River Valley Catering and West Wind Supper Club located in River Falls, Wisconsin. Again, I worked closely with community businesses and members for special events.

> This would explain her super-human event coordination and people wrangling skills. Also her good taste in food.

Q: How would you describe your experience at Renodis so far?

I feel fortunate with my experience so far at Renodis. In my current role I am able to work across all departments with all of our employees. I get to experience a little bit of everything in our company while getting to know all employees. This helps me be creative in finding new ways to make sure every team member has a great work-life balance and that we at Renodis have an evolving company culture.

Q: How do you or your team continue to innovate and challenge the status quo?

We work closely together daily and keep each other up to date on all projects and tasks. We continually look for ways to improve our team and processes.

Q: Where can we find you when you are not at Renodis?

At home with my husband, Chase, and our loveable chocolate Labrador, Lola. We are home bodies but we do enjoy the occasional hiking, fishing, kayaking or snowshoeing trips.

Q: In three adjectives, how would you describe your experience at Renodis so far?

Flexible, Ever-evolving, Enjoyable

Q: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

What didn’t I want to be! I had a very active imagination as a kid and I daydreamed about a different job each day. From wanting to be a mermaid or superhero to a chef, fashion designer, or scientist.

Q: What do you think is the most important quality you need to have for success?

Not being afraid to fail. Or taking yourself too seriously.

> Agreed! One can never have too many office Halloween photos...

> Or St Paul St Patrick's Day Parade co-worker pictures!

Q: What do you value most in a job?

My coworkers. The people you work with really make a difference in your job and I enjoy working with everyone at Renodis.

> Aw shucks... :) Ditto!

Q: What is your most treasured possession?

My most treasured possession is my wedding ring and band. They belonged to my grandmother and I have the original jewelry box they came in. My grandparents were married for over 50 years before my grandfather’s passing in 1991. So, I think of the wedding ring and band as good juju for marriage.

Q: What do you consider your greatest achievement?

As of today, my greatest achievement is getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Communications from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. But in a couple of days, it will be welcoming my first born…whenever they decide to make their appearance.

> Update: Heather and husband Chase welcomed their first born son 2 days after this interview!

Q: Have any “hidden talents”?

No hidden talents. There is still time to get one though.

 > Dog whisperer?

Q: If Renodis were a TV show, which character – from any sitcom, drama or reality show (of any period) – would represent you?

I’m a big fan of the TV show ‘The Office’ and reminded often of certain episodes while at work at Renodis. Not sure which character from the show would represent me or if it would be a mash up of several characters.

> Congratulations Heather on your well-deserved Employee of the Year Award! Thank you for sharing your mad marketing and coordination skills, your hard work, and for being a rockstar employee at Renodis!
